Tauranga · Bay of Plenty · New Zealand
archistudio is an architectural design practice based in Tauranga, led by Kyle Goldsack. We design homes, workplaces and commercial spaces throughout the Bay of Plenty, with projects elsewhere in New Zealand.
archistudio is an architectural design practice led by Kyle Goldsack. Our projects include new homes and alterations, townhouses, apartments, offices, shops and community buildings.
Much of our work is in Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa and the wider Bay of Plenty. A coastal section, a rural property and an urban development site each bring different requirements. We begin with the site information and your brief, looking at access, sun, outlook, neighbours and how the building will be used.
We also design elsewhere in New Zealand. The portfolio includes houses in Auckland and the Coromandel, housing developments in Waikato and residential work in the South Island.

Kyle leads the practice and works directly with clients on residential, multi-unit and commercial projects. His work spans individual houses, townhouse developments and buildings for business and community use.
He develops the brief with you, explains the design options and works through the decisions about layout, materials and detail. Coordination with planners, engineers and other consultants is part of that process, so the architectural design develops alongside the project’s technical requirements.
Our buildings often use simple roof shapes, contrasting materials and windows set back from the façade. Overhangs, screens and balconies provide shelter or privacy where the brief calls for it. We plan outdoor areas alongside the rooms inside, rather than leaving them until the end.
For a house, that may mean arranging living rooms around a sheltered garden. For townhouses, it means working through each home’s entrance, parking, outlook and outdoor space within the wider site. For commercial projects, we consider the business layout, customer access, servicing and street frontage together.

Compare layouts against the brief. Check room sizes, circulation, entrances and outdoor spaces before developing the roof and exterior. For larger developments, test how each dwelling or tenancy works within the whole site.
Consider appearance, exposure, maintenance and the construction budget when choosing finishes. Develop the junctions, openings and roof edges with input from the relevant consultants and suppliers.
We review the design with you as it develops. The brief, budget and consultant advice help guide decisions, and we explain where a change affects other parts of the project.
Residential architectural design for new homes, additions and alterations in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty, with projects elsewhere in New Zealand. We develop the layout around your household, site, privacy and outdoor living, then work through materials, details and the agreed consent documentation.
Townhouse and apartment design for small infill sites and larger developments. We work through the layout of each dwelling alongside access, parking, private outdoor space and the relationship with neighbouring homes.
We design offices, retail, hospitality and industrial buildings in Tauranga, the Bay of Plenty and other New Zealand regions. The brief starts with the business: how people arrive, work, move goods and use the space. Tenancy layouts, access, servicing and the street frontage are developed together.
Changes to existing homes and buildings, from revised room layouts to extensions. We assess what can be retained, how the new work connects to the existing structure and which consent requirements apply.
Libraries, surf clubs, childcare buildings and retirement facilities. We discuss the activities, users and operational requirements with the client, then develop the rooms, access and shared outdoor areas around that brief.
Early design studies, concept options, developed design and architectural documentation. We work alongside planners, engineers and other specialists to coordinate the design and support consent applications, pricing and construction-stage queries within the agreed scope.
The stages are tailored to the scale and needs of your project. We agree the scope, priorities and next steps with you at the outset.
We discuss your goals, budget expectations and programme, then review the available site information. The brief brings together what the project needs to achieve and the constraints that will shape it.
We explore layouts, building forms and the relationship to the site. Drawings and visual material help you compare options and understand the design before we develop it further.
We develop the selected option into more detailed plans, elevations and material choices. Engineers and other specialists contribute the information needed to coordinate the building design.
We prepare architectural drawings and details for the agreed project stage and coordinate them with consultant information. Where required, we support the resource and building consent processes and respond to design-related questions.
Design information supports conversations with builders and suppliers. We can help clarify the architectural scope, review proposed changes and work through design decisions arising during pricing, as agreed for the project.
Where included in our appointment, we respond to architectural queries and provide clarification as the work progresses. The focus is on helping the project team understand the design and resolve details consistently.
Whether you’re planning a home, exploring a development site or rethinking a commercial space, we’d like to hear about it.
